About the project

A student project built for the Development Tools for Web and Mobile Apps course at ESADE.

Why we built this

We are two MSc students who have lived through the moments this platform was built for - choosing a degree without knowing what it would lead to, and graduating without a clear picture of which job roles our background actually mapped to.

We believe students deserve a data-driven answer to one of the biggest decisions of their lives: what is my degree worth?

This is a functional mockup built as the final project for the Development Tools for Web and Mobile Apps course at ESADE Business School. The platform demonstrates the user journey end to end using the technologies taught in the course: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP and MySQL.

The team

Botond Fazekas

MSc student at ESADE Business School. Co-founded the idea and led the full-stack development of the platform.

Sri Athrukshna Balakrishnan

MSc student at ESADE Business School. Co-founded the idea and led the business model design and content strategy.

The course

Development Tools for Web and Mobile Apps (DTWMA-ESADE 2026) is a term-3 course taught by Jordi Tarda and Jose M. Alonso. It introduces business managers to the technologies behind modern web applications - front-end (HTML, CSS, JavaScript), back-end (PHP, SQL, MySQL) and deployment (Plesk).

This project is the final deliverable of the course - a functional mockup demonstrating a digital business idea.

The tech

Front end

HTML5 semantic markup, CSS3 with responsive grid and flexbox, vanilla JavaScript for form validation.

Back end

PHP 7+ procedural scripts using the mysqli driver. Sessions for login state. Plain SQL queries against a MySQL database.

Hosting

Plesk-managed web server with phpMyAdmin for database administration. Published live on the public internet.
